Commuter Student Support


You can get a commuter parking permit through the Campus Police Office for $30 a semester. Permits are issued on a first come, first served basis. You must show your car registration, valid college ID, and a driver's license. Commuters park in designated lots around campus (see campus map).

Get Involved

With about 50 student organizations on campus, it's easy to get involved at MCLA! The College offers something for everyone: academic societies, intramural sports, specific-interest clubs, and student government. Joining a club or organization is a great way to meet students who share your interests - and a great way to make friends!

Members of the MCLA community may borrow a bicycle from Freel Library through MCLA Bike Share Program. The Bike Share Program runs in the late spring and early fall. 413.662.5251

Bus - Local and Regional Service

The MCLA Shuttle offers complimentary service around the North Adams area. The MCLA Shuttle provides a schedule for a North Adams loop and round trips to the Berkshire Mall on particular days. 413.662.5283

Boston Bus Trips for resident students are offered throughout the academic year on long weekends and Thanksgiving and Spring Breaks. Sponsored by Residential Programs & Services, transportation to Boston is by Motor Coach and roundtrip tickets are $60. The pick-up/drop-off location for the Boston area is the Alewife T Station in Cambridge.

Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) provides weekday service from 6:15 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday service from 7:30 a.m. - 6:20 p.m. throughout Berkshire County. MCLA's bus stop is located on Ashland Street behind the Flagg Townhouse Complex. 800.292.BRTA or 413.499.2782

Peter Pan provides bus service from Williamstown to Pittsfield. This bus continues onto New York City through Connecticut or connects to buses to Springfield, MA or Albany, NY. The MCLA Shuttle provides service to the Williams Inn (the Peter Pan Bus stop) on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. Tunnel City Taxi serves Berkshire County seven days a week, 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Service is also available to airports 24 hours, 7 days a week with one week notice. 413.663.8294


Amtrak provides train service to and from Boston, MA; Springfield, MA; and Rensselaer, NY at Pittsfield's Intermodal Center. MCLA does not provide transportation to or from the Intermodal; however, students may take a taxi from the Intermodal to the Berkshire Mall to access the MCLA Shuttle for a return trip to campus during regular Shuttle hours. Additionally, BRTA provides service between the Intermodal and MCLA Monday - Saturday, and taxi service is available seven days a week.

Berkshire Rides

"Dedicated to removing transportation barriers," Berkshire Rides helps people get to work, job training, internships, student teaching, employment counseling, and interviews. They operate 4:00 a.m. - 12 midnight, seven days a week, including holidays. 413.664.0300


A Massachusetts statewide travel options program, MassRIDES provides information about carpooling, bicycling, walking, and public transportation. MassRIDES partners with NuRide, a free online rewards service for traveling by MCLA Shuttle, public transportation, bike, foot or carpool. You can also connect with other travelers going your same way. 888.4Commute
